Originally from Charleston, SC, China Dickerson has over a decade of experience consulting and working in the areas of political campaigns, community development, and the federal government. Ms. Dickerson began her career as a caseworker employed by her congressman to assist the constituents of her home state. As an undergraduate at Howard University, Ms. Dickerson worked at the U.S. Department of Justice where she supported attorneys in advocating for the human right to a clean living environment.
Upon graduating from Howard, Ms. Dickerson served in the U.S. Peace Corps in El Salvador where for two years she facilitated the formation and improvement of programs that promoted development and capacity building in poverty-stricken municipalities. Her work included organizing and overseeing workshops given to women in regards to their civil rights and prevention of domestic violence; men on the topic of sexism; and youth regarding self-esteem, STD awareness, and sexual abuse.
Upon returning from the Peace Corps, Ms. Dickerson enrolled into law school during which she served as an honors law clerk with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency; law clerk with the White House’s Office of Management and Budget, Office of the General Counsel; and Government Relations Intern for the Podesta Group.
One of Ms. Dickerson’s biggest accomplishments came when she served as Campaign Manager and Treasurer for Brianne Nadeau, who on April 1, 2014 beat out a 16 year incumbent garnering the Democratic Primary, for DC City Council, Ward 1. Adding to her political roster, Ms. Dickerson is former Deputy Director of Women Ready for Hillary, a constituency office at the Political Action Committee, Ready for Hillary.
Currently, Ms. Dickerson is the President of Dickerson Strategies, a consulting firm that advises political candidates. She is also proud to be Executive Director of the District of Columbia Young Democrats; Co-Chair of the Legislative Committee of the Washington Bar Association, Young Lawyers Division; and Board Member of Life Pieces to Masterpieces.
